Our Story
A chef’s dream. A community’s table.
For Chef Matt Chapman, food has always been more than a profession — it’s been a calling. From his early days working in restaurants in Sioux Falls to culinary school in Portland, Oregon, Matt’s journey has taken him through acclaimed kitchens, high-volume operations, and intimate, chef-driven concepts across the country.
After years of shaping menus and leading kitchens for others, Matt felt the pull to create something of his own. Domellie’s is that vision come to life — a restaurant built with intention, rooted in hospitality, and inspired by the kind of food people want to come back for.
The name Domellie’s is a tribute to Matt’s children, Dominic and Ellie. It’s a name that carries family, love, and legacy — the same spirit woven into every detail of the experience. From fine fare made with fresh, bold ingredients to a cocktail menu crafted with care, every offering is designed to feel special without being stuffy.
When the opportunity came to revitalize a space in Brookings, Matt saw more than just walls and windows — he saw potential. With new ownership, a new chef, and a renewed purpose, Domellie’s is writing its next chapter with the Brookings community in mind.
